I know I’m getting real old in life when I can say “I remember when there was music on MTV”
Well, there once was a time when there was. Even when it was stupid and called TRL, you know Total Request Live! With Carson Daily… All the girls thought he was so dreamy.
Luckily I wasn’t a girl.
Now we see stupid show after stupid show on MTV. And we actually have to tune into The Grammys or wait for a major tragic event and have some celebrities put on a concert like the 12.12.12 Concert for us to be able to listen to good music, or music at all.
I wish MTV had music. But seeing that they don’t. Let’s take a listen to some of the all-time greatest songs that mention MTV by name.
Do you remember these classics?
The most famous song about MTV ever has to be by Dire Straits and they’re “Money For Nothing” song all because “You play the guitar on the MTV”
Even Iggy Pop said “I’m cooler than MTV”
Here is someone’s favorite band Duran Duran, I heard they were “Destroyed by MTV”
Eminem explained how “they tried to shut me down on MTV but it feels so empty without me”
Blues Travler told us the truth about MTV “What you’re doing to me this MTV is not for free, It’s so PC it’s killing me”
The Smiths told use that we need “BPI, MTV, BBC” and we need to “Please them ! Please then!”
Ice Cube explained a day in his live “Went to Short Dog’s house, they was watchin Yo! MTV Raps”
Nerf Herder dreamed of taking the world when they said “We’ll take on the world And MTV”
Avril Lavigne explained how “She turns on TV, guess who she sees Skater boy rocking up MTV”
Afroman might be getting high but “I ain’t worried bout mtv,”
Everclear and their father might have given them a name but they still want to “Be like all those guys on the MTV”
Even Jimmy Buffett sang about MTV… “I got a PBS mind in a MTV world.”
And all the girls will go crazy when they hear that Bon Jovi sang about MTV when he used to “Sing this song on MTV”
The band Bowling For Soup remembers “There was U2 and Blondie And music still on MTV”
Was there a song I didn’t mention? Maybe next time I’ll see if there’s any songs that mention about the Napster. Remember that?
