In continuing this 20 Days Of Chill Writing Challenge, I have successfully made it to day number 2. As you may remember yesterday I started this challenge and the theme was “Who Are You?” so I wrote Who am I? Am I someone I know or just a figment of my imagination?
Today is a new day and a new challenge and today’s theme is:
Your favorite place
Yesterday I revealed a bunch of my favorite places such as Wellsville, sitting ring side at a independent wrestling show as well as the various places I have lived. But there’s on place I would have to say is better than all the rest. Especially seeing I don’t really care to sit in the sand by a ocean and sometimes camping out is super annoying.
That place being Syracuse and more specifically there’s a house in Camillus in which defeats all other places and there’s plenty of reasoning for this and I soon will explain all of them. But the main reason is this is the one place where I have felt love. And that’s because that’s where my grandparents live. The great and wonderful Ma and Da.
While my other grandparents also live in the same surrounding area of Syracuse this was always the place we spent the nights when we visited. Probably because my mother demanded it. Whatever the cause it’s always a place I can still go to and feel the love, I can sit and talk with Ma and she’ll help me boost my confidence as I tell her how my life is going. She’ll tell me stories of her past and we’ll talk about whats going on in the world.
Recently I spent a few nights with her during my little trip during The Final Journey. My uncle had set her up with a new flat screen television and got her a Roku so she could watch things on Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube. Although she doesn’t really understand it. I showed her how easy it was and we watched a couple of Christmas movies. I let her pick one and I picked one. We watched White Christmas and Bad Santa. Obviously Bad Santa was my choice, but my grandfather, Da, he would have loved it. After all he’s the one who introduced me to The Jerky Boys, Howard Stern and Beavis and Butt-head.
As a child I would visit on the main holidays and some other random weekends. We’d visit of Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas when I was real young my brother and I would spend a week visiting. There’s tons of stories and tales of great times in that home.
All of which make the whole area a magical place to me. Which makes it a little ironic that the writer of the Wizard Of Oz, L. Frank Buam’s birth place is right down the road. Thus making it possible for me to have to take the yellow brick road to Syracuse.
To add to the greatness of the area is included with my aunts and uncles that live so close to the area. Minus that one aunt who we won’t talk about because she just drove away. But that’s besides the point.
And recently I have found a whole group of new friends that live in and around the area because of my fascination with wrestling and that little company 2CW that proved to be oh so awesome.
So if someone was to ask me my favorite place I would definitely have to say Syracuse and more specifically a house in Camillus. Even if Ma calls the hallway the Hall of Death because of various pictures of my mom.
