We’re about a day away from the start of the MLB season and excitement is all over. Baseball players, coaches, fans and everyone is insanely hyped for the start of the new season.
This time of the year is one of the best for me personally It’s the beginning days of Spring, we’re a few weeks away from my birthday, wrestling’s biggest weekend of the year is occurring, the NCAA March Madness tournament is going on and baseball is about to begin. There’s just so much to be excited for.
For those who know and those who don’t, I’m a Chicago Cubs fan. I have been a Cubs fan since I was 12 or 13, it was around the same time I began my wrestling fandom. I had previously been a New York Yankees fan but with the retirement of Don Mattingly, a hero of my mine because we share the same birthday, I felt it was time to look for a new team.
It was right around then when my family had finally gotten access to cable, the likes of something we never had. One of those great things growing up in the middle of nowhere.
The Cubs fandom started mainly because when I’d get home from school their games would be on television. The whole afternoon games thing, that they have kind of pulled away from, was and still is the great part of being a fan of the team.
Yes, probably because they haven’t won a World Series game since well, before driving cars was a thing.
But in recent years, with the launch of MLB Network it’s now easier and more exciting than ever before to watch and enjoy baseball. It’s a channel I usually just have on all the time. I don’t even have to be watching it, just having it on in the background while I do other things.
Oh baseball, it’s probably the one thing I like more than wrestling. Outside of friends, family and loved ones of course.
This season the Cubs are billed as being one of the best teams in baseball. And this is one of those years where I hope to get out to more ballparks as last year I only got out to the local Tri-City Valley Cats. It’s time for me to visit a big stadium again. Well, I guess I did last year, but I just toured Fenway Park the home of the Boston Red Sox.
I hope to write and comment more about baseball this season and do more baseball trips. Plus I hope the Cubs live up to the hype. It’d be good to get my heart racing in September in October.
So let’s go baseball!
